Project Overview
People in South Asia have the highest rates of oral cancer globally, and after immigrating to other countries, certain practices that contribute to increased risk of oral health may continue (such as consumption of betel quid). This project aims to explore the oral cancer risk behaviours of Indian immigrants in Australia.
Aims & Objectives
The aim is to explore the oral cancer risk behaviours of Indian immigrants in Australia. Specifically, the project will be conducted over three phases:
- Identify the existing evidence
- Explore the perspectives of Indian immigrants and GPs around oral health
- Survey Indian immigrants to explore their oral risk cancer behaviours, knowledge and attitudes
